How to Use Memex to Annotate Websites

Memex allows you to organize their browsing history and annotate websites, PDFs, and videos. In this tutorial, we will focus on how to annotate websites using Memex but the those basics are applicable for Annotating PDFs and Annotating Youtube, Twitter & HTML5 videos too

There are two ways to annotate a website using Memex. The first method is to use the tooltip that appears after selecting text. The second method is to use keyboard shortcuts.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are a faster way to annotate websites. Here are three keyboard shortcuts you can use to annotate websites:

Undo creating highlights

Use CMD + Z (Mac) or Ctrl + Z (Win/Linux) to undo the last highlights(s) you made on a page.

Disabling the tooltip

Shift-Click on the X icon to not show it on any page anymore

Side-by-side Reader Mode

The sidebar by default overlaps the content, sometimes hiding important information. It’s good for quick annotations, but for longer sessions there is the reader mode that allows you to see the page and the sidebar next to each other.
